About the project
Overview
Sid's Farm runs on the milk poured by hundreds of farmers across villages around Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune. Managing all of that, the farmers, the field visits, the attendance, the outreach for new suppliers, was happening largely in people's heads and on scattered spreadsheets. The ops app brought it all into one place.
The problem
Supervisors were spending their days in the field, visiting farmers, surveying new villages, collecting missing information, and coordinating feed deliveries. None of it was tracked in any structured way. If a supervisor left or was reassigned, that knowledge walked out with them. And the most important job of all, finding new farmers who could supply milk to Sid's Farm, had no system behind it at all.
What was designed
Farmer directory
A structured database of every farmer supplying milk to Sid's Farm. Supervisors can view farmer profiles, update records, and flag anything that needs follow-up. All the information that used to live in notebooks now lives in one searchable place.
Village surveys and new farmer onboarding
The primary goal of the app was growth. Supervisors can log a new village survey, record potential farmers they meet in the field, and track the progress of bringing them onboard as suppliers. What was informal outreach became a trackable pipeline.
Field tickets
Supervisors create tickets for any field activity: visiting a farmer, collecting incomplete information, delivering feed, or surveying a new area. Each ticket is logged with a purpose, a status, and a timestamp. Nothing falls through the cracks.
Attendance tracking
Supervisors mark their own attendance through the app each day. Since they work across different villages rather than a fixed office, the app makes accountability simple without being intrusive.
Results
3.4x More new farmer leads tracked per month
91% Field tickets resolved within 48 hours
68% Reduction in incomplete farmer records
40+ New villages surveyed in first 3 months
Why this one mattered
Internal tools rarely get the design attention that consumer products do. But the people using this app were out in the field every day, often in areas with patchy connectivity, trying to do their jobs as quickly as possible. A confusing interface was not just an inconvenience. It was time taken away from the actual work of building Sid's Farm's supplier network.
